My chihuahua, Buddy, has some bumps in his armpit area that look like whiteheads and are hard to the touch?

they don't seem to be bothering him as he did not mind my rubbing over them, what could they be?My chihuahua, Buddy, has some bumps in his armpit area that look like whiteheads and are hard to the touch?
Sounds like a skin infection.......maybe ring worm or staph. Could be mange too, that's a common spot to start out at.

I'd suggest buying some Nustock cream or a fungiside (www.jefferspet.com).

EDIT: Was thinking about this today......where do you live? I'm wondering if maybe he got into a red/fire ant hill? We have them bad here (southern Alabam) and a day or two after being bitten by fire ants, the bite sight turns into what almost looks like a whitehead. They stop itching about the same time and don't have the slightest bit of discomfort from then on. They seem to go away in about a week to a week and a half, though I've seen them last longer. Did Buddy show any signs of being ill a few days before you noticed these spots? If he was bitten by fire ants, the poison would have gone through his system quickly. He probably would have shown signs of not wanting to eat, maybe a little vomitting, clumsy when he walked, seemed rather tired. Simple things you may have passed off as being the heat and his not wanting to do anything because of it.

I'd check your yard, there may be one you haven't noticed before. I didn't realize we had them in the yard until I was cleaning up the other day. Part of the yard is covered with straw and I was removing the straw when I found the colony under it.My chihuahua, Buddy, has some bumps in his armpit area that look like whiteheads and are hard to the touch?
